Why traditional advertising is dead?
Having previously worked for a printed media company I learned about traditional advertising by working closely with the sales team as an IT professional. A few years later I started off as a web designer and then moved on to internet marketing. I watched how tons of big companies, large business, and many small businesses are shifting a lot of their advertising efforts and their marketing efforts away from the more traditional offline sources over to the new world of social media. All that happened in a matter of short 2-3 years.
There’s no denying any more how important Social Media is
So you want to make sure your business is getting the most out of the potentials of networks like Facebook and Twitter. If you are new at this game you might need a little help. What you need to is: find a social media expert and hire him/her as a Social Media Assistant / Manager.
The shift in advertising trend isn’t going to stop. A recent study from MarketingSherpa showed that many businesses were seeing some of their highest ROIs from Social Media. It also absolutely crushed the myths that:
“You can’t make money in social media” – “That social media doesn’t work for more traditional brick and mortar
businesses.”

Traditional Media vs. New Social Media Potentials
There are two main reasons for this shift. One is that traditional advertising methods just don’t work nearly as well as they used to. Even traditional online marketing has changed greatly over the last few years. Second, social media is new and DOES work. This combination is the reason why it shouldn’t be any surprise that the highest ROIs are coming back from social media.
The thing that I found really interesting from this study was how successful business owners talked about how a lot of these companies were hiring social media managers or virtual assistants freelance style. In some cases they were even bringing them on staff and hiring them as full time social media managers.
Traditional Media Is In The Paperbasket
Yellow Pages ads aren’t working anymore. Newspaper ads become ineffective and all what you knew about media buying before is just not giving you the right ROI any more. Using the old ways is just not the same now. Why? Because the world has shifted and the next big thing IS social media.
Planning on developing an online presence specifically on Facebook or building a wast Twitter follower audience is the smart thing to do. If you don’t know how to get started or you rather outsource this task to an expert, read about social media packages available for your business.
While a business may have a Facebook page, a Twitter profile, a LinkedIn account, that’s all great. Some have even uploaded a video or two to YouTube before. But as a business owner, if you have a trained professional to do it 10x faster, it is 10 times more cost efficient, not to mention the stress relief because you have a professional handling it.
Why not just have someone who knows all of that stuff and knows exactly what to do and how to do it in 1 hour a day take care of it instead?
